Wakkerstroom is a little village lying in a beautiful valley, close to the Mpumalanga / kwaZulu Natal border and only three hours from Johannesburg. Surrounded by wonderful grassland hills and bordering a vlei fed by the uThaga River, this small village has so much to offer.

Birds are perhaps the most important attraction. The village is internationally renowned as one of the world’s ‘Important Birding Areas’ – wetland and grassland bird species abound, some of them endemic, many of them endangered.
