Wakkerstroom is well renowned as a bird watchers paradise.It is also a botanist’s paradise, the area boasts over 800 species; spring and early summer vie easily with Namaqualand in vistas of colour. And above all, the scenery and the tranquillity of the area are in themselves enough to soothe a traveller and make one want to linger.

Other activities include walking, horse riding and 4x4 trails, paragliding and cycling.
